Pricing and Services

How much do you charge for automated transcription?

Automated transcription costs $0.25 per minute of audio. For example, a 20-minute recording would cost $5.00. All audio is rounded to the nearest whole minute.

How long will it take to receive my automated transcript?

Most files are transcribed in less than 5 minutes but we will always provide an estimate. You will receive an email when your automated transcripts are ready.

Do you offer automated transcription services in other languages?

No, our speech recognition engine only transcribes English audio and video files.

Is your automated transcription service HIPAA-compliant or court-certified?

No, our automated transcription service is not a HIPAA-compliant or court-certified. While we are not strictly HIPAA complaint, we do everything possible to maintain the highest security and confidentiality standards.

Do you offer a discount for high volume?

Yes, we offer volume discounts for qualifying customers. Contact our sales team to learn more.

The Transcription Process

What file formats do you accept?
  • We accept audio and video recordings in MP3, MP4, WMV, AIF, M4A, MOV, AVI, VOB, AMR, WMA, OGG, AAC, and WAV. We also accept links to streaming video and audio files available on the web.

  • We do not currently accept physical media (tapes, CDs, SD cards, etc.). If you have a file in a format other than those listed here, please contact us.

How do I order automated transcripts?

Just click here to get started. Our online order process takes just minutes to complete.

In what format will I receive the completed automated transcription?

Transcripts are available for viewing, sharing, and editing from Rev's free Transcript Editor. Customers can also download transcripts as Microsoft Word, Plain Text, PDF, SubRip file formats.

About Our Speech Recognition

How accurate are automated transcripts?
  • The accuracy of our speech recognition algorithms are directly related to the quality of the audio file input. Background noise, volume differences between speakers, non-standard accents, etc. will all impact the transcript quality.

  • To accommodate for the imperfect transcription, we have built editing functionality right into the transcript to make editing quick & easy with Rev's free Transcript Editor.

Does your speech recognition denote separate speakers?
  • Yes, our speaker identification algorithm tries to identify different speakers and separate them into paragraphs, but we know it's not perfect. That's why we make it easy for you to correct.

  • To assign a speaker name, click on the speaker label at the top left of each paragraph. Once you enter a name, the speaker box will remember it. You can separate speakers by hitting 'ENTER' and creating a new paragraph (you'll see a new speaker box appear.)

How do I improve the accuracy?

Here are a few quick tips to improve audio quality of your recordings:

  • Record in a quiet setting

  • Speak clearly, loudly, and slowly

  • Avoid talking over other people

  • Invest in quality recording equipment, such as a microphone or recorder

Security and Confidentiality

How do you keep information confidential?
  • Rev has a strict customer confidentiality policy. Your files are private and protected from unauthorized access.

  • All of our professionals have signed NDAs and strict confidentiality agreements. Rev professionals only complete work on our secure platform.

How do you protect my files?
  • We encrypt all data - both in transit and where it is stored on our protected AWS servers. Your files are securely stored and transmitted using TLS 1.2 encryption, bank-level security. To deconstruct this jargon, it would take a supercomputer 13.75 billion years to break this encryption and compromise our security.

  • If you'd ever like us to permanently delete your files, just contact us.

How do you protect my payment information?
  • We never store credit card information - we simply pass it securely to our bank for safe-keeping. Rev maintains a PCI certification for payment processing.

  • We work with PayPal to ensure that all payments that go through PayPal are secure and encrypted.
